Matthew Day Jackson
The Studio des Acacias invited Matthew Day Jackson, along with Rashid Johnson, for the exhibition New American Art, for FIAC 2015.
Considered one of the most talented American artists of his generation, Matthew Day Jackson is obsessed with the notions of danger and destruction related to all human lives and productions, from machines to new technologies. With his concept of'Horrorful', he tries to express both the beauty and horror that can result from it.
His work - marked by the figure of the skull and a passion for car racing - engages in a meditation on existence, infinity and death. Matthew Day Jackson was born in 1974 in California. He now lives and works in Brooklyn, and has already been presented at the Whitney Museum, the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in New York, the Saatchi Gallery in London and the Palazzo Grassi in Venice.
